The Minami Alps area hosts an annual Tokaichi festival on the 10th and 11th of February to announce the arrival of spring.
Known by the people of Minami Alps as a festival where anything and everything can be bought, ‘bar the cat’s egg and the horse’s horn’.
There are long lines of stalls where many traditional Japanese crafts are also sold.
Visitors can enjoy the rare chance of bargaining with shop-owners.
In addition, there is the Takao no Yomatsuri night festival on the 22nd through the 23rd of November.
During this rare overnight festival, attendees will be delighted by the Kagura performance of ancient Shinto music and dance.
