Kushigatayama – A Treasure Trove of Flora and Fauna

Lying right next to Minami Alps City is Mount Kushigatayama (2,052m), known for its trapezoid shape and has the nickname Hana no Yama – the ‘Mountain of Flowers’ due to its abundance of alpine plants.
Spread around the summit and the hilly Ayamedaira area is an ancient forest, with many of the trees older than 300 years.
A fantastic view of Mount Fuji can be seen from Mount Kushigatayama, along with the 3000m peaks of the Southern Alps.
In the summer, people come here to escape the heat, and in the autumn, to see the fall foliage and relax.
